Striking non-teaching staff at Uganda’s public universities have failed to reach an agreement with the first lady Janet Kataha Museveni after they learned that they will have to wait longer for their arrears. Education minister Janet Kataaha Museveni who reminded the non-teaching staff that she’s only been minister for two months. She however promised “lasting solution” to delayed salaries.
However Finance minister Matia Kasaijaalso addressing the same meeting of representatives from the universities, Finance Minister Matia Kasaija said their their arrears were not included in FY2016/17 budget.Kasaija said the arrears will be financed in a supplementary budget in Q2 of FY2016/17.
The meeting fell flat after the non teaching staff failed to reach an agreement and vowed to continue the strike
