It wasn’t supposed to happen like this for Manchester United.

Expectations are extremely high at Old Trafford after the arrival of Jose Mourinho and his summer recruits – Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba.

But now they have lost three straight matches under the Special One, and the PL season is only five rounds old.

A Europa League defeat to Feyenoord was compounded by the loss to Pep Guardiola’s City in the Manchester derby, but no one would have fathomed the 3-1 upset by Watford.

Based on the Red Devils’ underwhelming performances during those three matches, United didn’t deserve to take much from the games, and that certainly won’t sit well with Mourinho.

That sparked former United club legend Gary Neville to take a dim view of the post, and question why an “Official club account mocking greatest rivals 5 games into a season with a game coming up in a few weeks. Why do it?”

When a fan suggested Neville would see it as “banter” if United’s official account had replied, Neville said he wouldn’t and would be “embarrassed”.
