Hundreds of student residents of Olympia hostel in Makerere Kikoni are set to go homeless if this info is anything to go by.

As we write this, the owner of this multimillion swanky hostel is battling with two cases of criminal trespass and land forgery at  the commercial court at TWED Towers after a family of the deceased former bonafide owner of the land it is sitting dragged him to court for grabbing their land.

The embattled city tycoon and advocate Dr Joseph Byamugisha has been dragged to court by the family of late Jackson Kamya Mutambuzi saying he connived with other people, forged documents and later grabbed their family land.

The land in contention is located on Kibuga Block 3 plots 595 and 596 in Kikoni in Makerere Wandegeya a Kampala suburb.

For starters, Dr Byamugisha is the former president Uganda Law society and one of the directors of Byamugisha and Rwaheru Co. Advocates.

Byamugisha was also in 2001 named to head president Museveni legal team which fought Col. Kizza Besigye’s petition which was challenging the March 12 election results at Supreme Court.

According to late Mutambuzi family members Byamugisha connived with Thomas and Kabunga Makumbi and forged the documents to obtain the land registration and later acquired a forged land tittle of their father’s land which he used to construct Olympia hostel.

Documents seen by this website indicate that the land belonged to late Jackson Kamya who died in 1977 Kamya had produced four children who include  Betty Nakalima, Nambi Getrude, Samuel Katelega and one Grace Ziweta all whose father had inherited the said land from his  grandfather Erisa Muganguzi who died long time ago.

The children also revealed that when the family started looking for the documents of their father’s land so as to start developing it, they were shocked upon being told that the land belongs to Dr Joseph Byamugisha who even acquired its title years back.

After learning that their land had been taken away by Byamugisha, they went and opened up a case at Land Protection Police at CIID Headquarters in Kibuli vide GEF 790/2009.

Police investigations revealed that Byamugisha connived with two others to forge documents and acquired the land tittle illegally.

Police made its interim report which indicated that all the transactions on the same land were fraudulently done and the file was sent to RSA who sanctioned it on charges of criminal tress pass and Forgery.

The case is coming up on October 24 /2017 for defense hearing.

The complainants maintain that they want their land to do their own businesses.

When contacted for a comment Byamugisha said he could not comment on a matter before court.
