Zimbabwe’s embattled leader Robert Mugabe has vowed to stay in power, despite mounting calls for him to stand down now.

In a live TV address last night, Mr Mugabe said he would preside over the ruling party’s congress in December.

His party Zanu-PF had earlier sacked him as party leader, and given him less than 24 hours to resign as president or be impeached.

Meanwhile Uganda was the first country to come out and condemn the military take over of Zimbabwe.It is also said that over the weekend the president took down Mugabe’ picture from his statehouse office.Museveni has been a long time admirer of the Zimbabwean revolutionery,and have been good friends.Museveni had carried this Mugabe’ portrait from statehouse Nakasero to Entebbe
